Sean and Julia O'Mahony are the founding pastors of Athenry Gospel Church, a vibrant community dedicated to helping people encounter God. OUR MINISTRIES

YOUTH GROUP

Our youth group meets every other Friday at 7:30 PM in Raheen Hall (H65 N125). Open to ages 13-18, we come together for a time of fellowship, worship, and ministry from God’s Word. It’s a great opportunity to connect with others, grow in faith, and be encouraged in your walk with God.

HOLY SPIRIT NIGHTS

Join us every Monday night at 7:00 PM in Raheen Hall (H65 N125) for an evening of Spiritual Emphasis. All are welcome as we receive from our Pastors and various other speakers who come to bring the fire of God!

We go out into Athenry for evangelism every Friday at 12 noon and Saturdays at 11 AM. This is a great opportunity to share the love of Christ and reach lost souls with the light of the Gospel! 

EVANGELISM & OUTREACH

YOUNG ADULTS

Our young adults comes together every other Friday at 7:30 PM in Raheen Hall (H65 N125). Come for a time of praise, worship, and teaching from God’s Word. Connect with others in a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere.

ZOOM PRAYER MEETING

Every Wednesday at 7 PM via ZOOM, we gather for our weekly prayer meeting. This is a time of going deeper in the things of God and being edified! All are welcome, contact us here for the link.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

OUR TENETS OF FAITH

THE SCRIPTURES

The Bible is inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)

THE GODHEAD

Our God is one, manifested in three persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. ( 1 John 5:7)

MAN, HIS FALL & REDEMPTION

Man is created in the likeness and the image of God, but sin came into the world through Adam’s fall. (Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:8)

ETERNAL LIFE & THE NEW BIRTH

The new birth is necessary to all men, and produces eternal life. (John 3:3-5). Water baptisms in water by immersion is for believers only. (Matthew 28:19)

DIVINE HEALING

Healing is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the Church today. (Matthew 8:17)

BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST

This gift from God is accompanied evidence of the speaking in other tongues is for all believers. ( Acts 1:8; 2:4).

THE RESURRECTION & RETURN OF JESUS

Jesus shall return to earth together with His saints. (Revelation 20:6)

SANCTIFICATION

The Bible teaches that without holiness, no man can see the Lord. (1 Thess. 5:23).

HELL & ETERNAL RETRIBUTION

The one who physically dies in his sin without Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost. (Hebrew 9:27-28).

CHRISTY CAVANAGH

As a young man, my weekends were spent drinking heavily, getting into trouble and struggling with anger. When I was on my own I would often go into a church and light a candle and pray. Looking back I was searching for God. In 2008 I heard the gospel that God so loved me He gave His own Son to die for me. I gave my life to Christ and things began to turn around. I started going to Athenry Gospel Church in 2011 and grew in my faith as I listened to God’s word. I met my future wife, Sharon, through the church and today we have 2 beautiful daughters. I tell people everywhere I go that following Christ has brought so much change into my life for the better!

NANDA GOMES

My name is Nanda and I’m truly blessed to be a part of Athenry Gospel Church. When I started teaching in children’s church the Bible stories became so much more alive and real to me. They were the same stories I heard growing up, but now my faith in God’s Word was being strengthened. Pastor Sean told me that I would one day be teaching others about the Word of God. Now I love to spread His Truth. I testify in the church how the Lord has helped me get free from anxiety because He is bigger than any challenge I face. I realise I must pursue God every day and continually have a heart of worship and thankfulness. My pastors have been wonderful mentors and have continually helped me to grow in my faith. I fully believe that whatever I go through in life the Lord is with me and is my strength and my Shepherd. He will never leave me because He loves me and I love Him!

MARIOLA

In the fall of 2015, I broke up with my then partner.  This breakup was one of many painful things in my life.  When he told me about it, I got into the car, devastated, with a pack of cigarettes and drove ahead with the tires screeching.  I didn't get out of bed for a week, I just slept and cried. When Saturday came, my friend Joanna came and took me by force to go shopping, but when the evening came and I was left alone because my daughter was already sleeping then my pain intensified.  I fell to the floor and started crying.  It was unbearable, so I don't know why (because I didn't want to know God for many years, after my friend's death.) Then I cried out: "God, if you are here, do something, because I can't do it anymore and tomorrow I will kill myself.". After all, I just went to take my shower. It was almost midnight when I went out and heard the doorbell. Surprised, I opened the door and saw my neighbor Ewa with her little daughter sleeping in her arms, so I asked what happened.  She explained to me that she was coming back from church in Athenry , where she and her husband, Jonatan, go on Sundays, from a prayer meeting. 

She told me his story and asked: "I know your approach to these matters, but maybe God would do something for Natalka's (my daughter) health."  Natalia has been a disabled child since birth.  I felt sorry for the lady for coming so badly with this child, so I agreed and the next day we all showed up for Sunday service. I was surprised that everyone was so nice and cheerful - and me - Black make-up, leather clothes, shaved head - my appearance did not encourage people to approach me.  After the service, Baldur started a prayer, to which I went out with my daughter and... I couldn't stop laughing.  It's the first time I've seen something like this.  Then he told me to repeat after him, so I repeated with broken English.  Without understanding a word, I gave my life to Jesus, and the man said, "By tomorrow, that stupid smile will be gone from your face."  - which made me angry.  Nothing changed that day after returning home, but the suicidal thoughts were gone, but the next day something changed - I felt different.  Even the fact that my daughter forgot her school outfit which she came back for (normally I would be angry), but this time I calmly went and found it, gave it to my daughter and saw how surprised she looked at me. Then God showed me what kind of mother I was - constantly nervous, emotional for no reason, and now... there was a wonderful peace that nothing could disturb.  It was God's peace that drew me towards Him, so that I wanted to know Him as best as I could.  Today I belong to the God's Army International Ministry in Gdynia, Poland. I am there part of the evangelistic group with which I serve, at work and wherever I go I pray for the healing of people.  I start and end each day with God and His word.  God uses me to help others.  I have testimonies of conversions, healings, etc. of many people. Even my mother's testimony, when machines kept her alive, returned to us after my prayer - God gave her back to us for a while. Moreover, above all, God transformed my life, my heart, my way of thinking.  He is for me a Loving Father and a Companion for the journey of my life.  He turned sadness into joy and colored the grayness of life with colors.  Don't be afraid to surrender your life to God, start an adventure that will take you to amazing experiences and bring you freedom - freedom from addictions, from your own limitations or from depression. I feel that the best is yet to come.
